Mother alerted by cat finds python wrapped around 2-year-old daughter

In a scene straight out of a horror movie, Tess Guthrie, Australia, woke up to find her 2-year old daughter, Zara, wrapped up in a python. The 22-year-old mom was sleeping in bed next to her toddler daughter when she was woken by her cat, Duchess, hissing at around 3:30 a.m, Sunday and saw a terrifying sight, the enormous python wound three times around her daughter's arm. “I couldn't believe it ... at the same time I was freaking out at what I was seeing I realised what the cat had been carrying on about for days," the young Mom said yesterday. At first she thought it was a dream but soon realised the terrible fact, Guthrie grabbed the snake by the head to try to peel it away from her child, which caused the reptile to bite Zara three times on her left hand. After being taken to the hospital, Zara was treated and released from Lismore Base Hospital with no major injuries. Meanwhile, the python was captured by and released back into the wild.
